Alberta’s East Central Regional Health Authority also operates in Lloydminster, and they provide services to 110,000 residents in approximately 84 communities in Eastern Alberta.  Within Lloydminster, East Central Health works in affiliation with the Prairie North Health Region, providing Continuing Care services to citizens of Lloydminster.

The East Central Health Authority is operating under Alberta’s New Health Policy Framework, released in March 2006.  This is designed to help guide health leaders in providing a more responsive and sustainable health system for Albertans both now, and in the years to come.  This framework is guided by ten distinct policies, which include: strengthening inter-regional collaboration, expanding system capacity; paying for choice and access while protecting the public system; and reshaping the role of hospitals.
