Community Futures is a federal government program that provides resources to develop and diversify the local economy. The Lloydminster region was approved for assistance under the Community Futures program in 1987 with the Business Development Centre starting operations in April of 1988. The two offices amalgamated in April of 1995 to form the Lloydminster Region Community Futures Development Corp.
Saskatchewan Neighborhood Development Organizations
The Neighbourhood Development Organization (NDO) program was launched in August 1998. The program provides organizational development assistance and funding to support the development and operation of multi-purpose NDOs, by the residents of low-income neighbourhoods, to undertake community economic development activities. The program is jointly co-ordinated by Saskatchewan Industry and Resources and Saskatchewan Community Resources and Employment.

Thousands of small businesses have been assisted, and hundreds of Small Business Loans Associations (SBLA) have been formed, since the program was introduced in 1989.

Streetscapes Co., the Lloydminster Downtown Business Improvement District (BID), is an organization formed by the downtown business community in cooperation with the City of Lloydminster. It provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and engages in community programs and activities that work to secure a solid future for the downtown area, which in effect, enhances the overall appeal of the city.
Regional Enterprise Centres & CSBSC Regional Access Sites
The department provides ongoing support to the development of regional business enterprise centres, including co-location in centres where there are regional offices of the department. These "single window" centres are being developed as a means to co-ordinate services to assist entrepreneurship and small business development in communities or regions to help their economies grow and create jobs.
